Hip, Pelvis and Low Back Pain Treatment in Salt Lake City

Hip, pelvic and low back pain can make walking, sitting, bending and sleeping uncomfortable. I treat this whole region together with gentle, low-force adjustments, with no popping, cracking or twisting, and the goal of fewer visits overall.

What I commonly see

  • Pelvic imbalance, uneven hips and sacral strain
  • Sacroiliac (SI) joint pain at the base of the spine
  • Sciatica and pain that travels down the leg
  • Disc bulges or herniations
  • Tight hip flexors, weak glutes and muscle imbalance
  • Old injuries, car accidents and sports impacts
  • Strain from long sitting, heavy lifting or standing on hard floors
  • Pelvic and low back pain during pregnancy and after birth

Why I treat the region as a whole

The pelvis, sacrum, lumbar spine and hips work as one unit, and the knees and feet below them feed into it. Pain on one side is often the body compensating for stress somewhere else in that chain, so I look at all of it before deciding where to adjust.

How I treat it

1. Find where it starts

I use the OS Test, a passive leg length check, to find which structure is holding stress and in which direction. For this region I check the pelvis and SI joints, the lumbar spine and discs, the hips and surrounding muscles, and the knees, ankles and feet.

2. Adjust gently

Adjustments are light and specific and made in a neutral position. There is no cracking, popping or twisting, and joints are not pushed to the end of their range.

3. Let it hold

Visits space out as your body holds the correction. Many patients notice meaningful change within the first 1 to 3 visits, and care is not continued without benefit. Once things are stable, maintenance care is monthly at most, stretching to every 6 to 8 weeks.

Pregnancy and postpartum

The adjustments are light enough that I see patients through pregnancy and after birth. One patient put it this way: “Jonathan also helped keep me mobile during my pregnancy (I had really awful pelvic pain), and has since adjusted my baby.”

Who this care suits

  • People who want fewer appointments overall
  • People who prefer gentle, specific work with no cracking or twisting
  • Older patients, people with osteoporosis, and anyone with sensitive joints or old injuries
  • Anyone who wants to know within a few visits whether this approach is right for them

If chiropractic care is not appropriate for your situation, I will say so directly.
