Neck Pain Treatment in Salt Lake City
Neck pain and stiffness can come from whiplash, sports, desk work or the way you sleep, and it tends to spread into the shoulders, head and jaw. I treat the neck with gentle, low-force adjustments. There is no cracking or popping of the neck, no twisting, and the goal is fewer visits overall.
What neck problems often come with
- Stiffness and reduced range of motion
- Shoulder pain and tension
- Headaches and migraines
- Jaw pain, clicking or clenching (TMJ)
- Dizziness
- Numbness or tingling in the arm or hand
Some of these have causes outside the neck. If testing points somewhere I cannot help, I will tell you and suggest who to see.
How I approach the neck
I use Open Source Technique (OST). Before adjusting anything, the OS Test shows which structure is holding stress and in which direction. For the neck I check:
- The vertebrae, including the upper neck where it meets the skull
- The ligaments and muscles that stabilize the neck
- The discs and the areas around the nerves
- The jaw, which is closely tied to the upper neck
Corrections are light, specific impulses made in a neutral position. Joints are not pushed to the end of their range.
How many visits will I need?
The first visit is a full assessment and your first adjustment. The follow-up comes 1 to 2 weeks later to address the next layer, and the third visit about four weeks after that to see how it has held. Many patients notice meaningful change within the first 1 to 3 visits, and care is not continued without benefit. After that, maintenance care is monthly or less.
Who this care suits
- People who want fewer appointments overall
- People who prefer gentle, specific work with no cracking or twisting
- Older patients, people with osteoporosis, and anyone with sensitive joints or old injuries
- Anyone who wants to know within a few visits whether this approach is right for them
If chiropractic care is not appropriate for your situation, I will say so directly.

Neck pain FAQs
Do you crack or pop the neck?
No. Adjustments are light and made without twisting or cracking.
Is this appropriate if I have arthritis, osteoporosis or an old neck injury?
These are some of the people I see most often, because the adjustments are so light. I assess each person individually and adapt the care, and I will tell you if I think something else is a better fit.
How many visits will I need?
Many patients notice meaningful change within 1 to 3 visits. More involved cases take longer, and I will tell you what I expect after the first visit.
Can neck problems affect other areas?
Yes. Neck tension is commonly involved in headaches, jaw pain and arm symptoms, which is why I check those areas together.
