Knee Pain Treatment in Salt Lake City

The knee sits between the hip and the foot, so knee pain is often about more than the knee. I treat knee pain and runner’s knee with gentle, low-force adjustments to the knee and the structures above and below it, with no cracking or forcing the joint.

What I check

Using the OS Test, I look at the structures that make up and control the knee:

  • The kneecap (patella) and the patellar tendon
  • The lower thigh bone (femur) and the upper shin bones (tibia and fibula)
  • The meniscus
  • The collateral and cruciate ligaments
  • The bursa, muscles and fascia around the knee
  • The hip, pelvis and foot, which change how load reaches the knee

Before or after knee surgery

If you are weighing knee surgery, or recovering from one, gentle care can be part of the picture alongside your surgeon and physical therapist. I will tell you honestly whether I think I can help.

When the feet are part of it

If your arches or gait are feeding the problem, I also cast and fit Sole Supports custom foot orthotics. I have worn them myself every day since 2006.

How visits work

The first visit is a full assessment and your first adjustment. The follow-up is 1 to 2 weeks later, the third visit about four weeks after that, and then maintenance care if you want it. Many patients notice meaningful change within the first 1 to 3 visits, and care is not continued without benefit.
